The more things change, the more they really do remain the same! I have been a REALTOR® for 28 years and do you know what has changed since 1984? Fundamentally, nothing! The profession of real estate remains a people-business, creating and maintaining relationships while acting as the middle person when you are buying and/or selling your most valuable asset. The paperwork we manage on a daily basis has become a legal nightmare, with far more documentation required then when I first began in this profession more than a quarter century ago. Fortunately the changes do ensure that your interests are covered legally. Your REALTOR® needs to be completely up to date on all issues that can affect you and is legally responsible to protect your interests. This business is continually changing and in my mind improving. There is more protection for the buyer and seller and more tools for the REALTOR® to use. I can’t wait to see what the future brings to this business we call real estate! Turning to the local marketplace there is a renewed sense of optimism out there. We are seeing solid spring sales, so hopefully this trend will continue as the months progress! With economists predicting a slight increase in mortgage rates, buyers are taking advantage of the historic low mortgages. There has literally never been a better time to get into home ownership.
