Welcome To Today's Buyer's Market!

The weather may be heating up, but the Real Estate market isn’t! Well, I could be overstating it a bit, but there has definitely been something of a “cooling trend” in what was previously a very hot local Real Estate marketplace. The weather has finally turned the corner and started to warm up, but activity in the local market is showing signs of slowing down. We have slowly moved into what could only be described as a Buyer’s Market, with the listings inventory increasing and the For Sale signs remaining on the lawns longer than in past months. As a Buyer you will discover that you now have more choices today than in recent months. As a Seller you will need to price your home at a more realistic Market Value if you want it to sell. The days of pricing higher and waiting for the market to catch up are over. We are being affected by global market changes and to some degree from the recent closure of two of the city’s largest employers - Harmac and Madills. Hopefully these industrial disruptions will be only temporary in nature. Over the long terms, Nanaimo is going to continue to grow and grow - so don’t despair. Now’s the time to take advantage of some great buying opportunities today, to reap the benefits tomorrow.
